Oliver, 87, of Penn Yan, NY, formerly of Ithaca, NY and Johnson City, NY, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan, NY.There will be no prior calling hours. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her memorial service on Friday, September 12, at 11 a.m. at the Dresden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michaela St. Marie and the Rev. C. Denise Yarbrough officiating. The burial will be at Vestal Hills Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, New York - Memorial Processing Center, PO Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160.Mary was born in the Town of Veteran, NY on July 12, 1916, and was the daughter of Elec and Dorothy Savorcoll Russell. She was employed as a secretary at Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company and then as a bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of All Saint's Episcopal Church in Johnson City, St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Penn Yan, and attended the Dresden United Methodist Church.Mary was predeceased by her husband, Robert Oliver; daughter, Nancy Walker; brothers, Lloyd, Stanley and Joe Russell; sisters, Amelia Fish and Donna Metciff. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sue Oliver of 1965 Rt. 14, Penn Yan, NY 14527; grandsons, Chris Oliver of San Francisco, CA, Steven (Jody) Oliver of Cato, NY, and Michael Oliver of Penn Yan, NY; granddaughter, Shelli (Gerry) Garland of Riverside, CA, Carrie Oliver of Penn Yan; adopted granddaughter, Carrie Oliver of Penn Yan; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Betty Russell of Binghamton, NY, and Mary Russell of Ovid, NY.Arrangements are with the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel in Penn Yan.
