CARR, MARY L. (GANOTE), 91, of South Louisville passed away Friday May 7, 2010, at Norton Pavilion. She lived a long happy life full of love, laughter, and devotion, surrounding herself always with her large circle of family and friends. Mary was a member of SS. Simon & Jude Catholic Church, an Avon associate for over 30 years, spent much time caring for friends, neighbors and loved ones, and had a talent and passion for cooking and baking. She made dinner for her entire family every Sunday for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis "Bert" Carr; a son, Sgt. Bertram "Sonny" Carr; sisters, Gertie Weise, and Myrle Ganote; and brothers, Len, Charles, Al and John. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann "Peach" Monks (Jim); son, Jimmy Carr (Anita); sister, Ruth Stuecker; grandchildren, Scott Gerstner (Maria), Tony Gerstner (Tiffeny), John Carr (Lorin), Philip Carr (Nicole), Joey Carr, and Jamie Mees (Chris); 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of celebration for Mrs. Carr will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Simon & Jude Catholic Church, 4335 Hazelwood Ave., with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. from 2-8 p.m. Monday. Memorial gifts may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
