Mary Kathleen Phinney SOMERSWORTH - Mary Kathleen Phinney, 85 of Maine Street in Somersworth died on October 14, 2014, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital following a period of failing health. Born in Sanford Maine on May 17, 1929, a daughter of Arthur and Emma (Bolduc) English, she was raised in Somersworth and attended local schools, graduating from Somersworth High School. On February 4, 1950, she married her loving husband Cecil Phinney and together they made their home for a time on MT. Auburn Street before settling and raising their family for many years on Indigo Hill Road. Mary worked for many years and retired from General Electric in Somersworth, working for a short time in the office and for many years on the assembly line and in quality control. She and Cecil enjoyed many years together camping on Osippee Lake and traveling with the Rochester senior citizens group. She enjoyed monthly lunches with the girls from GE and was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Church. Her first love was unquestionably her family, holidays and birthdays spent with them were her favorite times. Mary is survived by her son James and his wife Linda Phinney of Rollinsford, a daughter-in-law Lyn Phinney of Eliot and a sister in law Jan English of Lakeland, Florida, four grandchildren Christy Strong, Jeffrey, Kevin and Matt Phinney, three great grandchildren Dylan, Courtney and Kelsie. Mary was predeceased by her husband Cecil, their son Kenneth Phinney and a brother Robert English. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatious of Loyola Parish in St. Martin's Chuch with the Rev. Michael Taylor as celebrant, with a time of refreshment to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Cocheco Valley Humane Society 262 County Farm Road Dover, NH 03820 or a charity of ones choice.
