July 8, 2012 Katie Marziale Peterson passed away after a short illness at the age of 63 on July 8, 2012, in Alabama, where she resided. She was born in Syracuse on November 6, 1948, to Frank and Lucile Marziale who predeceased her. She graduated from Westhill High School and attended Tampa University, Tampa, Florida. Most of Katie's professional career was as a telecommunications consultant with GTE in Tampa, Florida, where she resided for many years. She retired from GTE, remarried and moved to Roanoke, Alabama, with her husband. An adept businesswoman and skilled cook, Katie owned and ran a restaurant in Roanoke, which she sold a few years ago. She was also a master gardener and spent most of her free time building gardens on her property as well as visiting her grandchildren in Tampa. Katie is survived by her husband, Dr. Russell Peterson of Roanoke, Alabama; her two children, Johan Kaufman of Orlando, Florida, and Nicole Braccia (Michael) of Tampa, Florida; two grandchildren, Jordyn Kaufman and Anthony Braccia; a brother, Michael Martini (Claire) of Westchester, PA; three sisters, Susan Martini Decker of Tampa, Florida, Toni Martini Cady (Al) of Edina, Minnesota, and Deborah Marziale Walsh (John) of Syracuse; plus many nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass to honor Katie will be held on Saturday, September 15, at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Chapel Drive, Fairmount, NY. Sehl Burns Funeral Service 445-9727
