URQUHART, MARY KATHLEEN - Mary Kathleen Urquhart, 86, of Woodwards Cove, Grand Manan, N.B. was granted her wish and peacefully passed away at home, Friday morning October 19th, 2007 while talking to her daughter about her Bingo winnings from Thursday evening, baking a cake for the family and friends to enjoy when they dropped in to visit. Born at Gondola Point, King's Co., N.B. she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Alice (Saunders) Johnson. Mary spent her earlier years living at Deadman's Harbour and then moved to Grand Manan in 1937. Mrs. Urquhart was a very devote and loving mother and a friend to all who knew her. She worked as a Sardine Packer, a Herring Plant Worker and also in later years a Clerk in the local general store. She was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, a member of the Anglican Church Women at St. Paul's, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #44, Grand Manan, and was a faithful worker at the local Legion Rummage Sales. She is survived by three daughters, Alice (Malcolm) Banks, St. George, Karen Small, White Head, Judy (Eugene) McKinley, Saint John, N.B.; four sons, Francis (Genevive), of Alberta, Ray (Margaret), North Head, Lawrence (Larry) (Bertha), North Head, George (Polly) Urquhart, North Head, Grand Manan, N.B.; 19 grand children; 30 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Urquhart was predeceased by her husband, George Vernon Urquhart (1990); one brother, Bill; one grandson, Blair; and one son in law, Judson Small. The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home on Sunday, October 21st, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Central Wesleyan Church on Monday, October 22nd, 2007 at 2:15 PM with Capt. Rev. Dana Dean officiating and assisted by Rev. Kirk Perry. Internment to follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Castalia. Donations may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
