Obituary of Mary-K. White


Mary K. "Katie" White, 81, Port Charlotte, died Jan. 4, 2003. She was born Sept. 17, 1921, in Chariton, Iowa, and came to Port Charlotte in 1965 from Governors Island, N.Y. She had recently moved to Heritage Oak Park. Before retiring, she was a registered nurse. During her career locally, she worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Charlotte County Health Department, and the Charlotte County School District. She served in the Army Nurses Corps in the European theater during World War II. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Charles I. "Chuck"; daughters Maymie King of Port Charlotte and Margaret Hall of Mauldin, S.C.; sons John of Kissimmee and Joseph of Port Charlotte; sisters Ruth Pasmussen, Ellen Smith, and Agnes Davis, all of Des Moines, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Charlotte Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Entombment with military honors by the Army will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 494708, Port Charlotte, FL 33949.
