COOMBS, MARY JUNE BARTLEY, 83, was called home on Monday, April 9 from Kindred Hospital. Mary June was a 1945 graduate of Nazareth College and St. Mary's Nursing School. She worked for 50 years as an RN at St. Joseph's Infirmary and then Suburban Hospital. She loved to travel and was a quilter and an avid reader. Mary June also enjoyed gardening, walking and bird-watching, but her favorite activity was spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren. Her husband William M."Bill" Coombs and her sister, Doris Rowland, both preceded her in death. She was a devoted and beloved mother to Andrew (Charmaine) and grandmother to Michael, Christopher and Katharine. She is also survived by her brother, Charles D. Bartley (Violet); a loving caretaker Linda Ashley; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Funeral service will 10 a.m. Friday at the Pearson-Ratterman Funeral 12900 Shelbyville Rd. in Middletown with interment in Resthaven. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 2-8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial gifts may take the form of contributions to Hopeful Hearts, 402 Ethridge Ave. #206, Louisville, KY 40223 in her memory.
