Mary Josephine Edwards July 9, 1924 - December 30, 2007 In loving memory of our mother Josephine, who, after many years struggling with Alzheimer's, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2007 at the age of 83 with her daughter Melanie at her side. Born in Clive, AB to Joseph and Claress Nuss (ne?e Pinchbeck), Jo grew up with her brother John and sisters Barbara and Ruth, all of whom have predeceased her. On July 4, 1956, she married Robert Joseph Edwards, son of John and Magdalene Edwards (ne?e Fyfe). Together they raised six children while living in Yellowknife, NWT, Edmonton, AB and Tsawwassen, BC. Later, Bob and Jo retired to Penticton, BC. After Dad passed away in May 1998, Mom moved to Maple Ridge, BC to be closer to her family. In 2003, as her disease progressed, she moved to Burquitlam Lions Care Centre. Many thanks to Steve and the other nurses and staff at BLCC for their loving care of our dear mother. Josephine is survived and missed dearly by her children Peter, Nancy (Mark) MacLeod, Bill, Trish (Erik) Austad, Melanie (Cornel) Hessels and John (Holly) and grandchildren Brittany and Jordan Edwards; Daniel, Nicola, Monica, Sonia, Tony, Garett, Madeleine and Claire Hessels; Veronica and Owen Austad; and Hunter, Ethan and Amy Edwards. Mom was a strong and beautiful person who lived her life with dignity and whose love knew no bounds. Prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 4 at St. Patrick's Church, 22561 121st Avenue, Maple Ridge, 604-463-7148. Funeral mass at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, also at St. Patrick's; reception to follow at the Hessels family home at 12641 261st Street, Maple Ridge.
