ObituaryMary Jo Smit, 67, of Ft. Myers, passed away October 14, 2003. Mary Jo was born in Rock Island, Illinois, where she grew up with loving parents and a younger brother. She was proud to be an active member of the Order of the Rainbow, where she achieved the honor of Worthy Adivsor. She married Gerald Smit on her nineteeth birthday in 1955, raised three children, and in 1986 retired to Ft. Myers. She enjoyed flower arranging, ceramics, and other crafts, but most of all, she loved spending time with and care for her family. She is survived by two sons, Steve (Peggy) Smit, Jeff Smit, and one daughter, Dawn (Ernie) Kelley, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and her brother Tom (Sharon) Brooks. A memorial service will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday October 18, 2003 at Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home.
