<!-- FH = Culley's MeadowWood Timberlane Road -->Mary Jenevieve "Jan" RobertsMary Jenevieve (Jan) Barber Roberts, age 73, passed away January 24, 2012 at the Margaret Dozier Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida after a lengthy battle with pulmonary disease. Jan was born in Denver, Colorado, April 5, 1938 to the late Eugene and Mary Barber. She received her education in the Denver school system graduating from East High School with plans to enter Denver University.Her college education was interrupted by meeting a young Air Force Lieutenant assigned to the brand new United States Air Force Academy then at Lowery Field in Denver. The young officer, Al Roberts, known as "Rob", asked Jan to join him as his wife. They were married June 28, 1958 in San Jose, California, where his parents resided. Jan and Rob shared more than 53 years of a wonderful partnership before her passing.They are very proud of the two sons they raised who have grown, married and have children of their own. During Rob's long military career, they lived in many locations in the United States and Europe. They made friends at every location that over the years have developed into warm and lasting relationships. After retiring from the Air Force, Rob began a second career with the State of Florida in Tampa.Jan entered the business world after both sons left home to pursue their educations and own careers. The eldest, travels the world as a contractor to the federal government. The youngest, owns his own growing business in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1986, with Rob's transfer to the Aviation Office of Florida's Department of Transportation, they moved to Tallahassee where Jan became a very successful realtor.Rob retired from his state career in 2002 followed by Jan's retirement in 2005. They enjoyed taking long leisurely road trips across the entire United States visiting family and friends while experiencing the many wonders of this marvelous country along the way. Unfortunately, progression of Jan's illness prevented them from sharing this favorite pastime during the final year of her life. Jan was predeceased by her mother, father, and sister, Peggy Ann Nichols.She is survived by her husband Al "Rob" Roberts, LtCol, USAF(Retired), son Jeff and Grandson Nic of Melbourne, FL; son Scott, wife Annette and Granddaughter Madison of Orinda, CA; brother Brace Barber, 1stSGT, USA(Retired) and wife Mazy of Santa Fe, NM. At Jan's request, there will be no local services.Following cremation, she will be interred at Sumner Cemetery, Osborne County, Kansas April 5, 2012, attended by family only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jan's name to: Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
