Mary Jane Kennedy Sprague August 29, 2010 Mary Jane Kennedy Sprague died August 29, 2010, at her home in Liverpool after a brief illness. She was born June 16, 1924, to James and Sara "Sally" (Finan) Kennedy of Syracuse and had a younger sister, Sally Lou, who died as an infant. She graduated from North High School and attended Central City Business Institute before joining the firm of Howard Nicholson CPAs, where she managed the ledgers for Syracuse's Community Chest. Following his return from World War II, she met Kenneth Sprague of Syracuse, whom she knew from North High School, under the clock at Rudolph's Jewelers on Salina Street. On April 12, 1947, they were married at St. John the Baptist Church, and they settled in Liverpool. They had four children, Cynthia (David) Cusano of Liverpool, Kenneth of Liverpool, Cooperstown and Washington, James (Donna) of Liverpool and John (Michele) of Baldwinsville. They have nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. After her husband's sudden illness in the 1970s, she returned to work as a bookkeeper for Empire Orthopedic Labs in Syracuse for many years. She was active in her church, St. Joseph the Worker in Liverpool, and in the American Legion Auxiliary. Until recently, she and her husband spent time in the winter in South Carolina and summers in Maine. Calling hours are at the convenience of the family, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Liverpool at noon on Thursday, September 2, 2010.
