Mary Jane Powell, 87, Venice, died March 14, 2003. She was born Aug. 11, 1915, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and came to Venice in 1977 from Trenton, Mich. She retired in 1973 after 18 years as a high school counselor for the Riverview, Mich., school district. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Michigan Education Association. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Donald E.; a daughter, Susan J. Devencenzi of San Jose, Calif.; a son, John M. of New Canaan, Conn.; a brother, Richard P. Gaver of Adrian, Mich.; and three grandsons. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Farley Funeral Home, Venice chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Venice Area Public Library, 300 S.
