Mary Jane Hayes Mary Jane Hayes HANOVER Mary Jane Kilborn Hayes of Hanover passed away peacefully on January 12, 2010 surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband Warren P. Hayes; her son Peter F. Hayes of Weymouth; her daughter Julie Thompson of Pembroke and husband David Hebden; her grandson Warren A. Thompson; and her granddaughter Abigail L. Thompson, both of Pembroke. She also leaves her twin sister, Nancy Dawe and husband Donald of Seabrook Island, South Carolina and her brother James R. Kilborn Jr. of Allenwood, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Quincy High School and Boston University. She had been an airline stewardess and elementary school teacher. She was an active yachtswoman and cruised the East Coast from Canada to Florida with her husband aboard their trawler named Sea Story. During those years she became a nationally recognized marine photojournalist. She had over 200 magazine covers and scores of pictures and articles on cruising to her credit in a variety of publications. She was also the author of two books on her sea travels. They sailed out of Scituate Harbor and were members of the Satuit Boat Club. She walked two miles a day until her recent illness and loved nature, flowers, the great outdoors and most dearly her family. Services will be private, at her request.
