WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. - Mary Jane Brinson Carter, 89, of Wrightsville, Georgia, died Friday, September 14, 2007, at Savannah Square Nursing Home in Savannah, Georgia. Mary Jane was the only daughter of Dr. Robert Earl Brinson and Sara Lovett Brinson. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her three brothers: Robert Earl Brinson, Jr. (Ruth), of Wrightsville, Georgia; Jeremiah Edison Brinson (Mary) of Oglethorpe, Georgia; and John Wesley Brinson (Billie) of Warner Robins, Georgia. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Franklin Carter, Sr., of Naylor, Georgia. Survivors: daughter, Sara Ann Carter Johnson (Tom) of Worthington, Ohio; son, George Franklin Carter, Jr., of Statesboro, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Scott Carter Johnson and Brad Carter Johnson of Charlotte, North Carolina; Rebecca Carter Swindol (Terry) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Brian Eugene Carter (Kim) of Colbert, Georgia, and Frankie Jane Carter Sizemore (Jimmy) of Augusta, Georgia; George Franklin Carter III and Jackie Renee Carter and Amanda Cheryl Carter of Statesboro, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Brooke Carter and Emily Paige Carter of Colbert, Georgia; three sisters-in-law: Mary Brinson (Ed), Billie Brinson (J. W.), and Teeny Carter Cowart (sister of George Franklin Carter, Sr.) Funeral service will be held Saturday, 1:30 P.M., September 22, 2007, at the Wrightsville First United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Grady Vance will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday evening, September 21, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
