She received the following awards, Teacher of the Year for Highlands County in 1992 and the Ida S. Baker Award in 1994. She retired from teaching in 1997 but not from working and teaching children. Homegoing services will be held at 11 am Saturday, September 8, 2012, at New Greater Mt. Zion AME Church, 870 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., Sebring, FL 33870.
