COHOES Mary J. Burke, 94, formerly of McDonald Towers, died June 1, 2006 at the Albany County Nursing Home after a long illness with her loving family at her side. Mary was born in Lodi, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Philip and Ustina Piterniak Joppa. Mary was predeceased by her husbands, John W. Baranski, Sr., and Joseph J. Burke. Mary was employed as a seamstress for the Standard Manufacturing Company in Troy for 20 years and retired in 1982. Mary was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church, and after her retirement, she enjoyed spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Diane and her husband, Michael Alvarez of Arizona, Marilyn Suthers. Mary was predeceased by her son, John W. Baranski. She is the grandmother of Jacquelyn Frederick, Judith Kubik, John Baranski III, Tiffany Alvarez and Mariel Roberts; great-grandmother of Thomas, Joshua, Matthew, Paul, Jason, Sarah and Emma. Mary is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Joyce A. Baranski; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral from the Stanton-Farrell Funeral Home, 326 Columbia Street, Cohoes, Monday morning at 10:00 o'clock and at St. Bernard's Church at 10:30 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Donations to St. Bernard's Church, 107 Canvass Street, Cohoes, NY 12047 in memory of Mary would be appreciated.
