Mary C. Hughes - SAVANNAH - Mrs. Mary C. Hughes, 71, entered into rest on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. She was a native of Roseboro, NC and lived in Savannah, GA for many years. She was a 1958 graduate of Roseboro Colored High School. She was a member of God's Church Evidence of Faith, where she became an Ordained Mother and an Ordained Teacher. Survivors are: five children, Edward Dwaine Jefferson (Rezika Velica), of Jerusalem, Israel, James Darioe Jefferson of Jacksonville, FL, Gregory Lee Jefferson of Southern Pines, NC, Charlene Marie Peebles (Willie Jr.) of Savannah, GA, and Tara Antonia Ward of Atlanta, GA; two siblings, Nathan Odell Melvin of Highland Mills, NY, and Joyce Ann Hughes of Chesterfield, VA; 20 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
