Mary Hughes, affectionately known as "Ms. Cenie," age 90, of Leighton, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009.Ms. Hughes was a native of Leighton, Ala., and was a faithful member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Leighton. She loved going to church and serving in the Missionary Society. She was a loving mother and grandmother.Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, July 11, at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Leighton, with the Rev. Jerry Reeves officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rose Hughes Burns, and nine siblings.She is survived by her sons, Emmitt Jimmar (Elsa), Leighton, Reginald Hughes (Tiffany), Orlando, Fla.; daughters, Martha Stewart, Chicago, Ill., Carrie Jimmar, Leighton, and Sarah Jimmar, Chicago, Ill.; one brother, James Hughes, Leighton; grandchildren, Renita Jimmar, Muscle Shoals, Kevin Jimmar (Pammie), Macon, Ga., Myron Hughes, Cincinnati, Ohio, Lakiska Jimmar, Madison, Ala., Kimberly Stewart, Chicago, Ill., Kharis Hughes, Orlando, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; special nieces, nephews and cousins.Our mother and grandmother has gone to be with the Lord, but she has left a loving legacy of daily praying and hymn singing that will be missed.Memorials may be made to Galilee Baptist Church, Leighton, or to the RoseMary Scholarship Fund, 9879 Forrest Glen Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242.Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
