Mary Hood Hendricks, 74, of the Dacusville Community, wife of the late Thomas Henry Hendricks, died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville, a daughter of the late Frank Earl and Mamie Lee Hudson Hood, Mrs. Hendricks received a Bachelor of Arts from Furman University, and retired as a teacher with Pickens County Schools. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher Sorority and the Pickens County Educators Association. Mrs. Hendricks was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where she was formerly director of the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a member of the Yellow Jasemine Garden Club. Surviving are a daughter, Jane H. Plapp of the home; a brother, Henry Hood of Easley; three grandchildren, Eric T. Plapp of Easley, Brian Hendricks of Easley, and Heather Vinson of Cary, N.C. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hendricks was predeceased by a son, Jack B. Hendricks, who died Dec. 31, 2001. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Spearman officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Chris Massengill, Pat Hickey, Ervin Hendricks, Phillip Hendricks, Dennis Bauknight and George Hood. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church, prior to the service. The body is at Robinson Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
