Mary Helen Genobles Brown, 80, of 737 S. Line St., widow of William Grady Brown, died Dec. 26, 2001, at Allen Bennett Hospital. A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Frank Genobles Sr. and Mattie Lou Burch Genobles. She was a retired employee of Union Carbide, a charter member of Southside Baptist Church and attended Praise Cathedral. Surviving are five sons, Kenneth, Waverly, James, Jerry and Tommy Brown, all of Greer; one daughter, Darlene Sims, of Greer; two brothers, Frank Genobles Jr. and Homer Genobles, both of Greer; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Praise Cathedral, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Madden and the Rev. Keith Kelly. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Brown, Terry Brown, Austin Brown, Joey Brown, Kyle Brown and Jerry Welmaker. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at The Wood Mortuary. The family is at the home of a son, Jerry Brown, 642 E. Suber Road, Greer. Memorials may be made to Greer Community Ministries, P.O. Box 1373, Greer, SC 29652.
