Mary Harrelson Higgins Mary Harrelson Higgins, age 69, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, at The Arbors Subacute and Rehabilitation of Sylvania, OH. She's survived by her loving husband, Robert, of Toledo, OH and their beloved feline, Brandy. She is also survived by two sisters, Anne Kelly and Jeanne Mellette, both of Spartanburg, SC; sister-in-law, Robin Morris and husband, Rob, of Reston, VA; and brother-in-law, John Higgins and wife, Susan, of Olathe, KS. Mary had several loving nieces and nephews, Beth Kelly, of Greenville, SC, Katherine Morris, of Reston, VA, Eric Kelly, of Charlotte, NC, David Kelly, of Spartanburg, SC, Jeffrey Higgins, of Chicago, IL, Michael Higgins, of Olathe, KS, and Bradley Morris, of Roanoke, VA. She is predeceased by her parents, L.C. and Lousie Harrelson; and brother-in-law, Kayle Kelly. Mary was a loyal member of Sylvania United Methodist Church for years where she was also a member of the choir, which she dearly loved. She was also a loyal member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio. Mary graduated from Spartanburg High School and Winthrop College. She taught elementary school and tutored in her home for many years. She was a substitute teacher for the Toledo, Sylvania and Catholic schools of Toledo where she loved assisting your people with academic challenges. She loved playing the piano and visiting with neighbors while working in the neighborhood. Mary will be dearly missed by her husband, Robert and all who knew her and her loving personality and good will toward other people. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2013, from 6-8 PM at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH where services will be held Saturday, April 4th at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Arbors Subacute Care and Rehabilitation of Sylvania.
