DAVIS, MARY HANDLIN DULEY, 86, of Louisville, died Saturday August 9, 2008 after complications from a fall. She was a native of Paducah, KY, a graduate of Tilghman High School and attended Western Kentucky University. She was a former secretary to the vice-president of Brown-Forman, Inc. and also worked as a bookkeeper for her husband, Edwin O. Davis, of Davis and Mahan Law Firm. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as her family history dated back to Lord Baltimore. She was also a long-time member of Middletown United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for over 30 years. She was a talented pianist, organist, and singer who organized the vocal group, "The Louisville Singers" and who also sang in the chorus of the Kentucky Opera Association. In her youth, she was also an award winning swimmer and equestrienne. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a role model of independence, intelligence, kindness, and generosity, and faced the final challenges of her last three weeks with characteristic courage, determination and finally acceptance. She and her family will be eternally grateful to the nurses, doctors, and support staff at University of Louisville Hospital for taking the very best care of her possible, and for going beyond the call of duty with their kindness and professionalism. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin O. Davis; her parents, Dr. Henry Handlin Duley and Marie Fiser Duley Greene; and her brother, Dr. Henry Hamilton Duley. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Davis Egger (Richard); grandsons, Sean Robert Egger and Brandon Davis Egger; her sister, Katherine Duley Hill, of Olive Branch, MS; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
