Obituary of Mary-Hamilton Carter


Mrs. Mary Hamilton Carter, age 78, of Buford, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. She was born on Aug. 10, 1934, to the late Thomas Howell and Cora Duncan Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother- and father-in-law, L.B. and Gertrude Carter; and son, Tony Carter. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lee B. Carter; son, Ted H. Carter; daughter, Tina E. Carter; granddaughter, Sandy Seaton Wofford (Dustin); grandson, Thomas Carter (Blake); special son, Ed Fox; sister, Julia Hamilton Higgins, sister-in-law, Juanita Simpson; brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Tona Carter; several nieces and nephews; and friend, Marti Martin. Mary was a 1951 graduate of Buford High School and had lived her entire life as a part of the Buford "family." She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Buford. She and Lee were among the original supporters of Greater Atlanta Christian School. She was a past member of the Georgia Walking Horse Association and past president of the Buford Jaycettes. She was also a former Sunday school teacher at Buford First Baptist Church in the primary class. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, Ga.
