PORTLAND - Mary H. Soucy, 62, died Sept. 23, 2005, as a result of a helicopter accident while on vacation in Kauai, Hawaii. Mary was born June 19, 1943, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Gerard P. and Helena Hicks. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Dominic J. Soucy in 1995. Mary was a graduate of Marion High School, Framing-ham, Mass., Class of 1961. She was employed in a managerial position at Deering Pavilion in Portland for many years. Family and friends will remember Mary as a true lady who had a wonderful, unique sense of humor and sense of adventure. She was a great friend to all who will cherish the memories of time spent camping, boating, skiing and laughing with her. Mary is survived by one brother, Alfred Hicks S.J. who presently resides in Amman, Jordan in the capacity of Superior of the Jesuit Society in Amman. She is also survived by one sister, Patricia O'Maley of Dracut, Mass. and Patricia's sons, Mark and Michael. She will be sadly missed by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Connie Soucy, Mark and Rosemary Soucy, Fay and Richard McLain, Marie and Alan Desroches, Jay Soucy, Peter and Lynn Soucy, Xavier and Anessa Soucy, Ann and Joel Haley. She was dearly loved by her nieces and nephews, Joan, Andrea, Denise, Anne, Matthew, Michelle, Alan, Seth, David, Orion, Daniel, Brooke, Noah, Douglas and Alexa. She will also be greatly missed by her friends and colleagues at Deering Pavilion, and the family of her close friend, Catherine Baron, who also died in the tragic accident. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by her nephews, Jimmy and Jason; and niece, Christine. Relatives and friends may call 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at St. John's Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor, with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor, and the Rev. Alfred Hicks, S.J. concelebrant. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery following the service. Those who wish to remember Mary in a special way may make gifts in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
