Mary-Grace-Hutchinson Maxwell, born in 1921, died on November 17, 2007. Please consult the obituary here:
Mary Grace Maxwell died November 17, 2007, at Life Care Center of Longmont, Colo. She was born September 8, 1921, in New Bethlehem, Pa., to Dr. John and Kathryn (Brown) Hutchison. She attended New Bethlehem High School and Clarion State Teacher's College. In 1944, under a peanut tree in Daytona Beach, Fla., she met and later married Marine Capt. Richard C. Maxwell, Jr., who was immortalized in the book "A Ribbon and A Star" by John Monks, Jr. She was a wonderful wife and mother and dedicated her life to serving and helping others. She had well over 1000 hours of service as a hospital volunteer with the East Jefferson General Hospital Auxilliary in Metairie, La., and Longmont United Hospital in Longmont, Colo. She was past president of the Reader's Club of Metairie, La., and the Indian River Community Concert Association in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She loved music, especially opera, reading, quilting, cooking, singing in church choirs, and she loved the arts. She was always learning and trying something new. She also loved spending time with her two grandchildren. Her parents, husband and brother, John Hutchison, Tulsa, Okla., preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Richard C. Maxwell and his wife, Beverli Lee, Houston, Texas; her daughter, Kathryn Lee (Maxwell) Willocks and her husband, Ronald H., grandson, Charles Matthew, and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth, Longmont, Colo.; nieces, Mary Anne (Watkins) Pflaum, Sally (King) Murdoch, New Smyrna Beach, and Mary Jean (King) Factor, Deltona; and cousin, Don Gocella, Detroit, Mich. She was full of life, not afraid of anything, willing to take on any challenge and was gracious, caring, and loving. She had a great sense of humor and always had a warm smile and a hug when needed. She will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends. Graveside service will be held in Edgewater, Fla., at later date. Cremation has been held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
