Mary Genelle Cody Marshall, 87, of 252 Sherwood Drive in Belton, went home to be with the Lord Oct. 1, 2002, at Anderson Area Medical Center. Born in Marshall, N.C., she was a daughter of the late James Ervin and Dorcus Waldrop Cody. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, and was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband, Hughie Lee "Red" Marshall Sr., of Belton; daughters, Barbara M. Taylor of Simpsonville and Sandra Marshall of Belton; sons, Randolph Cody Marshall of Belton and Hughie Lee "Stormy" Marshall of Anderson; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a sister, Madge C. Clark; brothers, Gus W. Cody and Frank Cody; and two nephews reared in the home, Marion L. Cody and William M. Cody. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Mitch Brooks and the Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cox Funeral Home. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Belton Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 5901 Belton Highway, Belton, SC 29627. The family is at the residence. - Cox Funeral Home, Belton.
