Mary Frances Stephenson Clark, 93, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2001, of natural causes.Mary Frances Clark was a loving mother and will be sorely missed by both family and her many, many friends. She was born in Enterprise, Ala., and lived most of her life there where she cared for her parents during their latter years. In 1989, she moved to Florence, Ala., to be near her son.Frances Clark was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Enterprise, for more than 80 years. She was a dietician, school teacher, retail merchant and active with the Pierian Club and the Enterprise Music Club. Her mother was a charter member of both clubs and an accomplished musician. Her father was among the first residents of Enterprise, a merchant and active in city, county and state government.Frances Clark was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thurston Clark, Tampa, Fla.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Stephenson, Enterprise, Ala.; five sisters and brothers.A graveside service will be Saturday, June 23, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at Enterprise City Cemetery, with the Rev. Bernie Reese officiating. Elkins Funeral Home, Florence, is assisting the family.Frances Clark is survived by her son, Charles Henry Clark and wife, Peggy, Florence; grandchildren, Charles Henry Clark Jr. and wife, Mary Ann, Birmingham, Cynthia Clark Burns and husband, Murry, Tuscumbia, Wade Kennedy Clark and wife, Robin, Florence, and Teresa Clark Pollard and husband, Eric, Florence; sisters, Katherine Stephenson Oates, Headland, and Ruth Stephenson Wade, Dothan; five great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
