Mary Frances McDowell, 92, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Helmwood Healthcare.She was a native of Upton, retired from civil service at Fort Knox in 1980 after 34 years and was a member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church, Antique Association, NARFE and Hallmark Club.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. McDowell; her parents, Elmer C. and Dollie Conner Brashear; and a sister, Kathryn Embry.She is survived by a brother, Daymond Brashear of Sonora; a sister, Helen Mabe of Elizabethtown; seven nieces and nephews, Deborah Acker, Gail (Norman) Crain, Terry (Richard) Muse, Joey (Luann) Brashear, Scott Mabe, David Mabe and Dayna (Greg) Gibson; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews, Michael Rider, Melissa Acker, Elizabeth (Kevin) Adams, Kristina (Bradley) Goodman, Bobby Acker, Jamie (Jerran) Morning, Keri (Aaron) Howard, Jacob Mabe, Ryne Brashear, Jordan Mabe, Erin Gibson and Devan Gib-son; and a great-great-nephew and great-great-niece, Samuel Adams and Ava Goodman.The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Haynes officiating. Burial follows in Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
