HODGENVILLE BROOKS, MARY FRANCES, 94, formerly of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2004, at the Burlington House in Cincinnati, OH. She was a native of Buffalo, KY, born to Robert Hankla and Mabel McDowell Middleton. She had attended Western Kentucky University, where she had played on the women's basketball team, taught at the Buffalo (KY) schools and worked at the Buffalo Post Office, all before she married Wesley Roy Brooks. Afterward, she was a mother and a homemaker. She was also a member of the Georgetown Women's Auxiliary in Georgetown, KY, and first Baptist Church of Mt. Healthy in Cincinnati. She is survived by a son, David Lee Brooks of Franklin, OH; a daughter, Janet Bourne of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Leigh Anne Bourne of Virginia Beach, VA, Tina Hammond of Frankfort, KY, Christy Keith of Owenton, KY, Heather Brooks of Cincinnati and Brian Brooks of Plant City, FL; and five great-grand-children, Caitlyn Hammond, Johnathan Hammond, Carlie Hammond, Amanda Keith and Shane Keith. Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at Billy Howell Funeral Chapel in Hodgenville, with Dr. Eugene Enlow officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to The Gideons International.
