Mary "Rita" Mattsson December 16, 1920 - April 13, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) MATTSSON, Mary "Rita" - 84, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully April 13, 2005, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Miminegash, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Gertrude (MacLean) FitzGerald. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Women's League from several parishes over the years. Surviving are her daughters, Roberta (David) Pulsifer, Marilyn O'Neil, Susan, Karen Boutilier, Paula McLellan, Bonnie (Bob) Pettipas, Monica (Mark), and daughter-in-law, Sharon, all of Dartmouth; son, Ralph (Cathy), St. John's, NL; brothers, Harry (Betty) FitzGerald, Richmond, P.E.I.; Roy (Vera) FitzGerald, Toronto, Ont.; Edwin FitzGerald, United States; sister, Eileen Praught, Summerside, P.E.I.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ralph; son, Thomas and one great-grandson; brothers, George, Lester, Lawrence, Frederick, Vernon, and Maurice Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Gaudet and Kathleen Snow. Besides being a wonderful mother to her immediate family, Rita was a "Mom" to many more, loved to spend her time in the kitchen baking, and always had a joke to tell everyone. Her remains are resting in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, for visitation Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Father Irek Bem officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation to follow with a private family burial at a later date. Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice in her memory. She will be sadly missed by all.
