FINNEGAN Mary Teresa (nee McGahon). Our dear wife and mother Mary passed away peacefully at her home in Ladysmith B.C. on April 2, 2004 with her family at her bedside, following a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 51. Mary was born in Co. Monaghan, Ireland, February 2, 1953 and moved to Canada in 1975 with her husband Frank. She lived in Tahsis, Nanaimo and Ladysmith. Over the years she was a valued employee of Tahsis Co. Limited, West Vancouver Island School District and Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Teresa and Dinny McGahon and survived by her husband Frank; daughter Fiona; and sons Robert, Peter and Aidan. She is also survived by her sisters Eileen, Margaret (Paddy), Olive (Sean), Kathleen (Donard), Ann and her brothers Tom, John (Mairead) all of whom live in Ireland; as well as her brother Peter (Marianne) who resides in Victoria, B.C. Mary is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, sisters in-law, brothers in-law and numerous other relatives. Mary was a devoted wife and mother who was respected by all those who knew her. Nothing was more important to Mary than the happiness of her family. We havebeen truly blessed to have her as a wife and mother and will forever remember her fiery spirit and appreciation of life. We would like to thank our wonderful family, friends and neighbours for their thoughtfulness and support. Thank you to Dr.A Hatchwell, Dr. F. Kennedy, Dr. E. Fritsch, staff at the Hillside Medical Centre, home care nurses, home care support team, staff at the Cancer Clinic, Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, Fr. M. Golabek the Catholic Womens League, St. Mary's church community, and all those who helped in any way. A prayer service for Mary was held on Tuesday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Ladysmith followed by a funeral mass on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. It is Mary's wish to be buried in Ireland, where she was born and raised. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Mary, thank you for your love, you will live forever in our hearts. Ar dheis De go raibh a h-anam (May she rest in peace)
