ObituaryMary Ellen White of Pinebrook Lakes, Fort Myers, Florida, passed away August 20th following an asthma attack during Hurricane Charley. She was 56. Mary Ellen was well known in Fort Myers as a professional staff member of Hughes, Snell & Co., P.A. which she joined in 1999 after working for Dilmus Hogan, C.P.A. for many years. She was recently a survivor of breast cancer. Born October 6, 1947 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Joseph Patrick and Marie G. Costigan. She grew up in Erie and Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Chestnut Hill Academy in Germantown, PA, as a National Merit Scholar finalist before entering the Wharton School of Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania. Mary Ellen Costigan married William Alexander Kilroy of Great Falls, MT on December 27, 1970, which produced a daughter, Anne Marie. Her career included service as a vice president of finance for a Nebraska television station. Before moving to Fort Myers in 1988, Mary Ellen married James Mallory White of Winnetka, IL on February 15, 1986. Survivors include her husband, James; her daughter, Anne Kilroy-Burik (Todd Burik); her mother, Marie and many close family and friends. A memorial service will be on Saturday, October 16 at 11:00 AM at Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, with a reception following at the White's residence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Cremation arrangements were handled by Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Home and Crematory, 1600 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.
