RIHERD, Mary Ellen Lough, 87, passed away peacefully, with her onlyson, Tom and his wife, Philana by her side, December 5, 2009, in Chandler, Ariz. Mary Ellen is also survived by her grand-son, Tim; and sister, Dorothy Jean. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy. Mary Ellen was born May 19, 1923 in Delaware, Ohio. As a child, her family moved to Tampa. Mary Ellen attended Florida State University. She married Tommy Riherd in 1948. Mary Ellen was a volunteer and dedicated homemaker until her son, Tom graduated from high school, when she was able to resume her career. She worked for many years at the Hillsborough County Tax Collectors Office. In 2007, following the death of her husband, Tommy, Mary Ellen moved to Arizona to be close to her son and daughter-in-law. Mary Ellen was an active member of her church and had many, many friends who loved her, and who will miss her dearly. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009, at The Renaissance, 9508 E. Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, Arizona, in the Garden Room. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85014, in Mary Ellen' s memory.
