-><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Barrett, Mary Ella (Ayers)Waverly: Mary Ella (Ayers) Barrett, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Chemung County Nursing Facility, Elmira NY. She was born February 25, 1928, at the Peoples Hospital, Sayre, PA. to Leonard and Elizabeth (McCarthy) Ayers. She married Orin R. (Beans) Barrett on June 11, 1949 and they celebrated sixty years of marriage in June 2009. They made their home and raised their family in Waverly. He predeceased her in August, 2009. She was also predeceased by her parents, and sisters Patricia and Kathleen. Mary Ella is survived by her children; James (Charlene), Nancy (Mike), Earl (Sandy), Denise (Emery), Mark, and Matthew (Donna); her grandchildren, Megan, Faren (Broc), Emily, Kelsey, Sharon, Michael and Ella; great grandchildren, Isabella, Lucas, Madeline, Carleigh, and Rosalie, and brother in law James Glann. She is also survived by many, many special and much loved cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and close friends. She was a graduate of Epiphany Catholic School and Sayre High School. She attended St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, receiving her RN in 1949. Mary loved nursing and all of her duties, loved the maternity floor the most. She worked at Arnot-Ogden medical Center following her graduation, for many years at Tioga General Hospital and at Sayre House following her retirement from TGH. She was a member of Saint James Roman Catholic Parish where she was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the parishioners of St. James Parish, for always letting Mary Ella know they were thinking of and praying for her, and the staff at CCNF for their truly compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Waverly Free Library or Waverly or Van Etten food pantries. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday Evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Luckner Funeral Home 449 Park Avenue Waverly, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday November 22, 2013 at 10:00 am at Blessed Trinity Parish Saint James Roman Catholic Church in Waverly.
