Pierce, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Streeter was born in Holyoke, MA November 13, 1916, daughter of Elsie and Ronald (Ren) Streeter, died in Tampa, FL Tuesday, January 25, 2005. Betty grew up in Massachusetts, earning a BA in Food Science from the University of Massachusetts in 1938. She moved to Hartford, CT and worked as a dietician at G. Fox and Co., then later at the Aetna Insurance Co. She was also Town Recorder for the City of West Hartford, CT during the 1960's. Betty moved to Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL in 1966, then to Boynton Beach, FL in 1975, where she lived until moving to Tampa in 2000. While in Boynton Beach she served as a volunteer at Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge, and was an active member of the Choir and Bell Choir of the Church of the Palms in Delray Beach, FL for many years. She was married three times, to Sidney K. Pierce, restauranteur Joseph Muer, and George Babcock. She was the sister of the late Ronald M. Streeter of West Hartford, CT and Jupiter, FL. She is survived by her son, Sidney K. Pierce, Jr., Ph.D. and daughter-in-law, Christine E. Pierce of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Alisa S. Pierce, MD and Michael R. Pierce of Tampa; her sister-in-law, Anne P. Streeter of West Hartford, CT and nieces and nephews, Jean Streeter of Chicago, Steven Streeter of Hamilton, Canada, Deborah Streeter of Ithaca, Richard Streeter of Boulder and Jonathan Streeter of San Francisco. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 28, 2005 at Church of the Palms Congregational, Delray Beach. Burial will follow in Lauderdale Memorial Park.
