Mary Elizabeth Phillips, 92, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, after a lengthy illness. She was a member of Laurel Bluff Baptist Church. A lifetime homemaker devoted to taking care of her family, she was always known as "Granny" to everyone and loved cooking, flowers and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Phillips; son, Tom Phillips; daughter, Sue Stewart; and great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Brown and Tora Phillips.Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Vicki Phillips, Spring City; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Phillips, Midtown; grandkids, Jon Phillips (Renee), Julie McGill, April Narramore (Barry), Francine Brown (Scott), Jeanine Phillips, Rick Phillips (Shane), Angie Strey (Chris), Jamie Sitzlar (Rebecca), Jason Phillips (Rebecca) and Elana Stewart (Calvin); 19 great-grandkids; three great-great-grandkids; and special friend, Wilma WilliamsThe family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, in Schubert Funeral Home Wartburg.
