Mary Elizabeth Cubbedge Daley, 83, of Sylvania, passed away Saturday morning at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro, Georgia. She was born to the late Cora Pierce and Marion Lamar Cubbedge of Screven County growing up in the Bay Branch Community. She was a lifelong native of Screven County and member of the First Baptist Church of Sylvania where she was a former teacher of the Faith Sunday School Class, Bible teacher of the Catherine Smith Circle and served on the flower committee for many years. She had been employed with the Screven County Tax office as well as the Screven County Health Department where she was a bookkeeper. She served as past president and secretary of the Screven County Garden Club. She enjoyed growing and arranging flowers. She served as a member of the first Screven County Recreation Commission. She was also a member of the Card Club and Sewing Club. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother . She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Daley, Jr. and brothers, LeHolmes Cubbedge, Rabun Cubbedge, Lamar Cubbedge, Farris Cubbedge, and W.H. Cubbedge. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Dawn B. Daley and Mike and Susan N. Daley, all of Sylvania; grandchildren, Will and Lindsay Daley, of Port Wentworth, Beth D. and Luke Boswell, of Sylvania, Allen Daley, of Vidalia and his fiancé, Jenny Lott, of Sylvania; special great grandchildren, John Boswell and Caroline Boswell; and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn L. Cubbedge, of Sylvania and Marjorie Cubbedge, of Savannah. Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center Monday, January 31, 2011 at 10:00-11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be held immediately after visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sylvania with Dr. Charlie Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at the Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Will Daley, Allen Daley, Luke Boswell, Wilbur Matthews, Michael Brinson, and Stan Sheppard.
