Mary Elizabeth Bernard Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Bernard (Clark) (Tugwell), beloved wife, loving mother, grandmother and aunt, born August 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Mary Ella nee, Forsyth Clark of Alberton, PEI, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. After graduating from the Prince of Whales College and the P.E.I. School of Nursing, Betty nursed in Cardiff Wales, Alberton and Moncton Hospitals and at the Maplewood Manor Alberton. She was a member of the Alberton Presbyterian Church, The Ladies Aid, The Dock Womens Institute, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Tignish Legion and the Alberton Senior Citizens Groups, and volunteered with the local foot clinic, Pallative Care Assoc. She is survived by her husband, Walter H. Bernard, and their children Christine (Steve) Reaman of Summerside, John Bernard of Moncton, Rick (Cathy) Bernard of Edmonton, Rob (Vickey) Bernard of Hopewell, N.S., Tim (Rose Anne) Bernard of Head of Chezzacook, N.S. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild. She was predeceased by her first husband Flt. Lt. Maurice Tugwell who died in active duty Second World War and by brothers, Jack, George and Charles. From her first marriage she is survived by a son, Maurice Tugwell (Claudia) of Wolfville, N.S. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral on Tuesday afternoon from the Alberton Presbyterian Church with funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment later in Hillcrest Cemetery, Alberton. As an expression, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Dock Womens Institute Fund or to the Alberton Presbyterian Church would be gratefully appreciated. www.rooneyfh.ca
