Obituary of Mary-Elizabeth Burke


ALBANY, Ga. - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Burke, 84, beloved wife of 50 years to the late Joseph John Burke, entered into rest Monday, November 13, 2006 at Palmyra Medical Center, Albany, Ga. Mrs. Burke lived in Augusta from 1963 to 1999 and moved to Albany in 1999 to be close to her daughter Teresa and her husband Ray. She worked as an LPN with Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Ft. Gordon, Ga. She was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Albany and was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Augusta. Her joys were her husband and family. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. noon at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Father Raphael Estrada officiating. Survivors include her two daughters, Teresa (Ray) Shealy, Albany, Ga. and Susan Burke, Chattanooga, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Abby (Trey) Johnson, Savannah, Ga., Patrick Shealy, Albany, Ga. and Katie Chavous (Russell) Roddey, Anderson, S.C.; and one great-granddaughter, Faith Arianna Roddey, daughter of Katie and Russell Roddey. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Burke; son, Joseph Michael Burke; and grandson, Joey D. Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, National Service Foundation, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076.
