She was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County. She worked on the Murfreesboro Square at McCellan's and Woolworth's. Mary also worked at Oakland High School as an office and teacher's aide.Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Dayton Barrett; parents, Jacob Leah Herron and Sara Ethel Mayo Herron; brothers, Gaston C. Herron, Julian R. Herron, Beutley Herron and Glenn T. Herron; sisters, Ina A. Hudson, Olalee H. McClaran and Milred A. MacBride. She is survived by niece, Judy Beardsley of Jackson, TN; nephews, James R. Herron of Orlando, FL, Jerry W. Herron of Goodlettsville, TN and Mike Herron of Chapmansboro, TN.Chapel service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home, with Frank Lipetri officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
