GROVETOWN, Ga. - Mrs. Mary Eleanor Crook, 94, wife of Furman W. Crook of Columbia Rd., went home to heaven on Sunday, August 7, 2005 after a brief illness. Mrs. Crook was born on July 5, 1911, the oldest of five children of the late Willie and Dora Lewis. She married Furman W. Crook on March 14, 1931. Mrs. Crook walked closely with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was know by her love for her family, church and community. She was a faithful member of the Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church all of her life. She faithfully taught Sunday School for 70 plus years and she served as a strong voice in the choir for 80 plus years. She was among the first members of the United Methodist Women. Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Furman W. Crook, Grovetown; one son, Furman Laverne Crook and wife, Patricia, Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Manis Hensley, Grovetown; six grandchildren, Thomas Crook, Randall Crook, William Crook, Scott Crook, Jeff Crookand Rhonda Moulder; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church with three grandsons officiating, Rev. William Crook, Rev. Scott Crook and Rev. Jeff Crook. Interment will be in the Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Pierce Norman officiating. Mrs. Crook will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at the Thomas L. King Funeral Home from the hours of 6 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Russell Crook, Joshua Crook, Stephen Crook, Jared Crook, Ethan Crook and Patrick McGowan.
