Mary Edith Callahan, 93, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at Mariner Health Care of Seneca. A native and longtime resident of Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Corrie Elizabeth Black Callahan. Having been predeceased by 14 brothers and sisters, she was the last member of her family. She was retired from J.P. Stevens Company, and was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church and the Simpson-Long Sunday School Class. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Piedmont Chapter No. 108 for many years, she was designated as Life Member by the local chapter in 1994. She is survived by her only child, Martha Grigsby (Mrs. Robert L.); and scores of beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, Greenville, today, Aug. 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev.
