Obituary of Mary-Easter Johnson


Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church for Mrs. Mary Easter Johnson, 89, Webster's Chapel, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008. The Rev. Pettis Roper will officiate with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.Mrs. Johnson was a native and longtime resident of Calhoun County and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, L.B. Douthit and Clifford Johnson; two sons, Harold Douthit and Paul Johnson; four sisters; and two brothers.Survivors include her children, Roscoe (Mary Nell) Douthit, Webster's Chapel, Jane (John Jr.) Maxwell, Webster's Chapel, and Carolyn (Roger) Smith, Reece City; daughter-in-law, Rose Douthit, Webster's Chapel; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Dorothy Morris, Webster's Chapel, and Bessie Randall. Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Johnny Vinyard, Ray Johnson, Howard Roper, Dannie Box, Roger Autwell and Larry Maxwell.Special thanks to Dr. Steve Sanders, Dr. Urbina, Dr. Willbon Bates and the nurses and staff of the eighth floor at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
