-> Cocoa Beach, FL - Mary Earline "Lee" Hatcher Fleming died November 14, 2003 at Cape Canaveral Hospital at age 76. Born in Americus, GA, to Earl Hatcher and Mary Eloise Joyner, she was raised in Normantown, GA. She graduated Vidalia High School in 1944 and joined the Nurses Corps during WWII. She received her Nursing degree from Emory University School of Nursing in Atlanta in 1947. She married James Evans Fleming of Thomasville, GA, on June 11, 1948 in Americus, GA. She was widowed in February of 1991 in Fairfax, VA. The late Mr. Fleming was the President of Air Land Systems, Inc., and they lived in Mantua Hills for the majority of their married life. Lee, as she preferred to be called, served the majority of her nursing career at Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, VA, in the OB. She is survived by her brother, Herschel Hatcher of Sharpsburg, GA; three sons, Lindsay Eric Fleming of Tampa, FL, Randall Earl Fleming of Merritt Island, FL, and James Evans Fleming, Jr., of Breckenridge, CO; five grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to Dr. Robert Udell, the nurses at Cape Canaveral Hospital and the Hospice of Health First for the fine care she received in her last days.
