Mary Elizabeth Hayes, 84, of Florence, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008, in Florence, after a brief illness.Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight, Monday, March 3, 2008, at Greenview Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in the Greenview Memorial Chapel, followed by burial in New Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Clint Harris will officiate. Pallbearers will be Thomas Hayes, Bill Hayes, Kristen Sledge, Ronald Hayes, Lester Hatton and Ricky Parrish. Honorary pallbearers will be David Ringelstein and nephews.Mrs. Hayes was born in Lauderdale County, was a member of Central Heights Baptist Church and had been a seamstress for Genisco. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her husband, Bennett Hayes; her parents, Adam David Clemmons and Rose Zellie Barker Hayes; and brothers, Woodrow Clemmons and Cecil Clemmons. She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Linda) Hayes and Ralph Hayes, all of Florence; foster brother and sister, R.C. Whitten and Kathleen O'Bryant; grandchildren, Thomas (Elizabeth) Hayes, Bill (Saskia) Hayes and Kiya (Kristen) Sledge; great-grandchildren, Tristen, Savannah, Spencer and Sydney Hayes and Noah Sledge.Arrangements by Greenview Funeral Home.
