NISKAYUNA Mary E. Halloran, 75, of Niskayuna, died Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at home after a long battle with cancer. Mary was born in Granville, N.Y., on June 15, 1930 to the late Edward C. and Esther Soper Reil. She was a 1948 graduate of Albany High School and was fortunate to attend her 50th class reunion in 1998. From 1960-2004, she lived in Halfmoon. Mary worked for many years as a data entry operator with the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany; she retired in 1992. Until the onset of her illness, Mary was a very independent woman who loved to do things for other people, but hesitated to ask for help for herself. She never complained about anything, even in the later stages of her illness and was a compassionate friend to those who knew and loved her. She loved her yearly trips to the coast of Maine and attended many concerts and parades to see her daughter Maureen perform: she was her biggest fan. In addition to her parents, Mary was also predeceased by her husband, William J. Halloran, in 1992. She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Halloran of Schenectady; her son, Tim Halloran and his wife Kari of Pittsburgh, Pa.; her stepson, Owen Halloran and his wife JoAnn of Canton, N.Y.; her stepdaughter, Ellen Halloran of New York City; two brothers, James Reil and his wife Patricia of Drums, Pa. and Walter Reil of Guilderland and her stepbrother, Richard Apple and his wife Ginger of England; two grandchildren, Kelsey Halloran and Brenna Halloran and four step-grandchildren, Sarah Halloran, Owen Halloran, Joseph Halloran and Michael Halloran. Mary also leaves behind her best friend from high school, Helen Chamberlain; her cat, Muffin; her neighbor's children (her adopted grandchildren), Tracey, Chad and John; and many wonderful friends and staff members she met since moving to Alterra Wynwood in Niskayuna in June of 2004. She will live in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Calling hours will be Thursday morning from 9-11. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes, N.Y.
