Mary Edwards Brown, age 58, born Oct. 2, 1950, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009. A native of Tampa, Fla., and a longtime resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Mary was preceded in death by her father, William E. Edwards; and her sister, Suzanne Lawrence. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Stephen M. Brown; and her mother, Mary Ann Edwards of Fort Walton Beach. She is also survived by her four children: sons, M. Patrick Gordon and his wife Michelle and their daughter Lauren Margaret of Columbus, Ga., Russell E. Gordon of Destin, Fla., S. Mark Brown and his wife Candacey and their daughters Abbie and Emma of Pell City, Ala.; and daughter, Lesley P. Bodley and her husband Andrew and their children Isabelle, Rooker, Tucker and Bowman of Fort Collins, Colo. She enjoyed sea kayaking, photography, and spending time with her family and beloved dogs. For more than 10 years, Mary worked, mentored and taught as a Registered Nurse, Critical Care Nurse and Director of Oncology at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and employees for their dedicated service and prayers during her illness. A memorial service will be held at Mary's home church, Family of Faith Church, on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 5 p.m., with a visitation preceding at 4 p.m. (850-685-5469).
