Mary E. Berg of Chenango Bridge Mary E. Downs Berg, 81, of Chenango Bridge, died Sunday morning, August 16, 2009, at her home. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Robert J. Berg; and her parents, James Leo and Elizabeth Downs, Sr. She is survived by her children, Anne Marie and Robert Smith, Round Hill, VA, Michael Berg, Chenango Bridge; her grandchildren, Nicole and Matthew Rizzolo and Danielle Smith; her brothers and sisters, James L. and June Downs, Jr., Endwell, Dr. Richard and Jean Downs, NJ, Elizabeth and Merle Perkins, Port Crane, Patricia and Gary Husband, Greene; sister-in-law, Marjorie Berg, Binghamton; many nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Hillcrest (formerly St. Catherine of Siena Church), member of the Altar-Rosary Society, member of the Eucharistic Adoration Group and Caregivers Support Group. Mary was a retired 17 year employee of the Broome County Personnel Office. The family wishes to thank her many friends, neighbors and caregivers for their many kindnesses over the years. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Hillcrest, Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A.
