Obituary of Mary Dewitt


Mary DeWittof Susquehanna, Pa.Mary DeWitt, 85, of Susquehanna, Pa., passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at the Barnes Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna after an illness. She was born in Susquehanna, the daughter of the late Victor and Nellie (Stevens) Lea. She was predeceased by her husband, Myron DeWitt; one daughter, Milaine DeWitt; five brothers and four sisters. Mary is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Warren and Nancy DeWitt, Donald and Mary DeWitt, Myron and Karen DeWitt; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Nellie and Stan Murphy, Susan and Ron Rowe, whom she resided with, Judy and Tim Cook, Lori DeWitt, all of Susquehanna, and Eleanor Andrejko, Tracy, Ca.; 22 grandchildren, Nellie Jane Murphy, Stanford and Kelly Murphy, Sean Murphy, Myron Murphy, Lisa Andrejko, Kimberely Signorino, Christopher Andrejko, Ellen DeWitt, Carrie DeWitt, Katie DeWitt, Nicholas DeWitt, Melanie DeWitt, Abby DeWitt, Peter Rowe, Liz Rowe, Seth Cook, Lauren DeWitt, Janine DeWitt, Megan VonUrff, Mary VonUrff, Frieda Smith, Sinion Smith; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Signorino, Joseph Signorino and Shaelyn Murphy; several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong resident of Susquehanna and a member of the St. John's Church. She was also past council member of the Borough of Susquehanna Depot. Mary was a licensed Practical Nurse working at Barnes Kasson Hospital, Binghamton area Hospitals, and private duty.A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the St. John's Church, Susquehanna, Pa., with Rev. Robert Simon officiating. Burial will be in the North Jackson Cemetery in North Jackson, Pa. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Tsunami victims through the Red Cross or the Catholic Relief Fund. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary's caregivers, Cassie Rivenburg and Barbara Cowperthwait.
