Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Carter Cox, 82, of Peachtree Centre, formerly of 125 Chandler Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 13, 2006, at Peachtree Centre.She was the wife of the late Charles Darald "C.D." Cox, and the daughter of the late William Gaston Carter and Laura Wells Carter. She was a native of Gaffney, S.C.Mrs. Cox retired in 2004 from Hamrick's, Inc., where she was a bookkeeper. She was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, where she was an adult Sunday School teacher, and was active in the Women's Missionary Union.She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Cox Bradley of Charleston, S.C., and Deborah Cox Mack and husband, Major Thomas Mack, of Charleston, S.C.; a son, William Darald Cox and wife, Josephine Norwood Cox, of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, John Daniel Bradley, IV, David Charles Bradley and wife, Lauren Burkart Bradley, Michael Edwin Bradley, Paul William Bradley, Laura Mack Smith and husband, Andrew David Smith, Brian Hutchison Mack, Jennifer Elizabeth Mack, Timothy Allen Mack, Josephine Reid Cox, and Mary Connor Cox. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her son-in-law, John D. Bradley, III.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2006, at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Clyde Thomas and Rev. Stuart Kersey. Mrs. Cox will lie in state for 30 minutes before the service.
